Robert L. Grossman is a faculty member at the University of Chicago and a Partner of Open Data Group.
At the University of Chicago, he is the Director of the Center for Data Intensive Science (CDIS), a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Genomics and Systems Biology (IGSB), a Senior Fellow at the Computation Institute, and a Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences.
He is a Partner at Open Data Group. He founded Open Data Group in 2002 and since then it has been one of the leaders in building predictive models over big data.
He is a Member of the National Cancer Center (NCI) Frederick National Laboratory Advisory Committee, 2014-2018.
He is a Fellow of the AAAS (2013).
In 2013, he was a Federal 100 Award Winner.
From 2008 to the present, he has been the Director of the Open Cloud Consortium (OCC).
From 2009 to 2014 he as a member of the NASA Advisory Council (NAC)'s Information Technology Infrastructure Committee.
From 2011 to 2013, he was the Co-Chair of the Defense Science Board (DSB) Task Force on Cybersecurity and Reliability in a Digital Cloud.
He was a Member of the Board of Directors of the ACM Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (SIGKDD) for the terms 2005-2007, 2007-2009 2009-2011, and 2011-2013.
